HONOR CRUISE
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the Warriors Honor Cruise?
Simply put--TO GIVE BACK. By acknowledging the service and honor of the sacrifice of Purple Heart recipients. We want them to know that we see them, they are not forgotten and they are part of a brotherhood who stands at the ready for them.
Aren't there better ways to help our veterans than a cruise?
There are many organizations, agencies and charities that provide much-needed services to veterans and their families. They provide education, vocational training, medical, life skills classes, occupational therapies and counseling, just to name a few. We appreciate all who serve those who have served us. However, there are many veterans who get lost or have challenges navigating the systems. Warriors who get caught up in cycles for years, feeling defeated and alone. Taking a break from the daily grind of life. The cruise is designed to provide appreciation as well as a restoration of mind, body and soul.
Isn't a cruise an extravagant expense for veterans?
A cruise, in fact, is quite economical. This is an excellent travel option for the investment. In order to "give back", we explored several travel options. We have determined a cruise is the best economical investment for our veterans' needs. Logistically and physically, it is less demanding as far as schedule. There isn't the need for buses or multiple hotels. There is no traffic for meals or entertainment. Since our warriors have varying degrees of mobility, capacities and endurance, a cruise ship provides easy access to their rooms, meals and various activites, on and off board.
What do the warriors and their guest do during the cruise?
One of the benefits of a cruise is you can do as much or as little as you want. All meals, including room service, are included and available 24 hours a day. Spouses and veterans get a break from cooking, cleaning up, appointments, and daily schedules. All on-board facilities are available for their use, even continuing physical therapy. There are pools, hot tubs and fitness centers. There are even massage therapists on ship. Entertainment is found throughout the day and including shows in the evening. As far as our warrior program schedule on board, we share in meetings, fellowship, meals and many of the vets take off-ship port excursions together. And for sure, you do not want to miss the informal nightly cigars on deck.
What is the Symposium At Sea?
Our Symposium At Sea is essentially an on-board "retreat" the we conduct and enjoy together during our days at sea. We have mandatory and optional events while on board, including round table discussions, and work sessions. Days we have anchored in port are "free" days from WHC scheduling. Designed for warriors and their caregivers, the true purpose of time together is to enhance and deepen bonds of fellowship, through time spent and shared activities.
